Our Expertise

Environment

Storey & Gough advises on a wide range of environmental issues including:

  • Biodiversity
  • Conservation
  • Ecologically sustainable development
  • Environmental health
  • Impact statements
  • Resource management
  • Threatened species
  • Waste management
  • Water management

We have been responsible for giving advice relating to the conflicts between the bushfire mitigation requirements in development and threatened species. Careful planning has been necessary in this regard in order to balance the two delicate disciplines.

Storey & Gough is without a doubt one of the pre-eminent Environmental Law firms practising in NSW. Our Lawyers assist clients in compliance, enforcement, litigation and business transactions.

We utilise our Environmental Law and Litigation experience together with our ability to negotiate or mediate – with the view to eliminating the necessity of litigation.

It has been our experience that many cases can be resolved through strategic planning and open communication, reducing the need to resort to legal proceedings.

Environmental Crime

Unfortunately environmental crime is on the increase and so too is the number of prosecutions brought by Local Councils and Regulatory authorities. Courts will no longer grant a dismissal and a warning and are treated with much more severity.

Storey & Gough successfully represents prosecuting Councils together with corporations and individuals in their defence. We assist our clients in fully understanding the severity of their situation and provide guidance in assessing their vulnerabilities.

We are pleased with our track record of successfully negotiating resolutions for our clients.
